I have been reading and taking note of many of your lovely comments across my social media pages from those waiting for Pixel Moon to open up shipping to your countries! Well, the wait is now over, because Pixel Moon now also has an Etsy shop! 🎉
The PixelMoonShop Etsy page will now offer shipping to the following countries:
- Canada
- USA
- Australia
- UK
- EU (union)
- New Zealand
- Philippines
- Japan
- South Korea

So, why open up an Etsy page, you might ask?
Opening the the UK and EU in particular have been a big priority for me since I opened my shop last October, and I've had many people in these locations express interest in buying from my shop.
To put it simply, the very boring reason it has taken me this long to make shipping available to these countries, is that as someone hosting and running my own shop, I need to do a lot of planning and research into tax and business laws for each country/market I open shipping to, in order to make sure I am tax compliant. As a marketplace, Etsy takes care of a lot of that sales tax stuff for sellers, so that is why I have chosen to also open up an Etsy storefront, in order to offer shipping to more countries as soon as possible!
But, what will happen to the main Pixel Moon shop?
Absolutely nothing! The Pixel Moon website will remain open and is still the main place to shop for all of my pixel art merch. Residents of Canada, USA, Australia and New Zealand can still currently shop directly from this website with ease, but will also have the option to shop from my Etsy as well.
Also, if you reside in one of these countries, I do recommend that you still buy directly from this site, as Etsy does take a selling fee off of all orders placed through their site and so my product prices are slightly increased on their platform due to that, and I'm also not able to provide as many custom shipping options through their platform.
Canadian buyers in particular might also find that my Etsy prices are increased compared to my prices here on the Pixel Moon website, due to me being HST registered and needing to include sales tax directly to my prices on Etsy. I also do not offer untracked oversized lettermail shipping via Etsy, so if my Canadian customers are looking for a much more affordable shipping option for their orders, the Pixel Moon website would still be the best place to be!
Will your Etsy shop be available permanently?
The answer to that is...well, I'm not really sure yet! While my current plan is for my Etsy storefront to be a temporary solution to international shipping, it's hard to say what the future will hold.
My end-goal is to eventually build my small art business up to a point where I can run it full-time, and I'm hoping that by that point I'll be able to afford to hire an accountant/merchant of record/tax service that can handle a lot of the complicated sales tax stuff for me in regards to selling internationally.
By continuing to support my business, you can definitely help turn that dream into a reality! I am working hard to continue growing my shop and have a lot of fun things in store in the near future.
I am currently working on some new pixel art products to add to the shop, and will also be posting my current convention/market schedule for this year very soon!
